Foundry Graduation and PlayPenn 2022 reading.

I graduated from the Foundry Writer’s Group in the spring of 2022. I don’t know if can adequately put into words how much that program meant to me. I grew as a writer in so many ways, I found an artistic community that was quite a lifeline during the COVID lockdown and beyond. I am profoundly grateful that I was able to be a part of it.

For my graduation, a play of mine, Moss & Kay’s Fabulous Adventure, received a staged reading at the PlayPenn New Play Conference in July, 2022. Another momentous thing that I am profoundly grateful for.

Riddle of the Trilobites NYC premiere

a very belated update…

I’m really bad at the ‘news’ section of my website, and am definitely posting something (just shy of) two years after the fact … but here goes!

Riddle of the Trilobites received its NYC premiere at the New Victory Theater in Feb 2020, as the pandemic was just getting going — indeed, we were the last show to have its full run at the New Vic before the big shut down.

It was a quite a task for our little company to produce a puppet musical Off Broadway at the New Vic, and it went so well — swimmingly, if you don’t mind the underwater pun. It received some good attention, but then, yeah, you know, pandemic. sigh.

Here’s a little Critic’s Notebook write up from the NY Times.

I've been accepted in The Foundry, class of 2021!

I am beyond thrilled to be joining the new cohort of writers at The Foundry

The Foundry is run out of Play Penn and provides a three-year membership program to support emerging playwrights in Philadelphia with professional development, networking opportunities, and exposure as they launch their playwriting careers.  Joining me will be fellow writers Tenara Calem, Kevin Esmond, Alexandra Espinoza, Carl(os) Roa, and Julie Zaffarano!

Riddle of the Trilobites world premiere announced!!

I am so excited to announce the world premiere of Riddle of the Trilobites - the epic puppet musical for all ages that I created with my company Collaborationtown. It will premiere in March 2019 at the Flint Repertory Theatre.

Here's a link with some more info on their season and all involved in Riddle of the Trilobites.

Riddle of the Trilobites was developed as part of New Victory LabWorks at The New Victory Theater in New York City where it received support from The Jim Henson Foundation as well as the Nancy Quinn Fund.

Year Two of Trilobites coming to a close.

Hard to believe it's been two years, but we're finishing up our LabWorks development residency at The New Victory Theatre this month.

We're exploring some new puppet designs and finessing a production draft of the script and score.  There will be a reading of the script in early June. If you're interested in attending, please contact me.

Year two of development for Trilobites

Together with Jordan Seavey, Nicholas Williams and Lee Sunday Evans I've begun year two of development on The Rise and Fall of the Trilobite Kingdom through New Victory Theater's Labworks program.    Puppets designed and built by Amanda Villalobos.

L to R: Richard Saudek, Amelia Pedlow, Emily Walton and Jordan Barbour in a June 2015 developmental open rehearsal.  Puppets by Amanda Villalobos.
